I couldn't think of 1% of the golf stuff floating around out there and I spent hours on this thing! Help me grow it so that I can call Guiness World Records and tell them that together, as a virtual golf community, we collectively made the world's biggest Golf Wordle. Nike To Pull Tapes Of Tiger Woods British Open

Tiger Woods - human beingJuly 2009 – There is a rumor going around on the Internet that Nike will pull the tapes of their star player representative after a dismal showing at this year's British Open in order to save Tiger from further embarrassment. Tiger was mad at himself and disgusted with his performance, but embarrassed? The great Bobby Jones was the guy that said golf is played on a field 6" wide, that area between the ears that we call a brain, meaning golf is just as much mental than it is physical. We all know that Tiger has the talent to win every time he tees it up. The fact that he doesn't is appreciated by every real golf enthusiast out there.

I find it hard to believe that Nike would be this stupid, even after the Lebron James "dunking" incident. It was James himself and his monster ego that demanded the evidence be sensored. Believe me, Tiger Woods is no Lebron James. I know Tiger Woods personally and he is one of the most humble of people off the course.

The sportswriters are already second guessing him about his swing even though he has won multiple times since his comeback from knee surgery, they are hinting that he should drop Hank Haney as his swing coach. Sure, by Tiger's standards he has had a rough stretch of majors since the Masters Tournament but so what?

Tiger is very much a human being with human frailties. If you wish to think him super-human for what he has done in the game of golf go ahead and believe that. But don't join the legions of armchair quarterbacks that take joy in his failures. A guy like Tiger has a target on his back each time he doesn't win a tournament he is entered in, there is useless speculation and mean-spirited rumor mongering out there that has Tiger ready to fire his swing coach, his knee hasn't healed right, Hank Haney is messing up his swing, even that he is having difficulties with his marriage and is depressed. Simply not true.

A Personal Tribute To Bob Rosburg

Bob Rosburg, Pro Golfer, terror to spotters.Bob, it really pisses me off that you got such a short retirement. I knew when you left your on-course announcing position with ABC Sports Golf you were not the kind of guy who would enjoy retirement but, jeez Bob. What did you have to go and die for?

I knew Bob Rosburg well just by being a TV Golf Spotter on numerous occasions where ABC Sports was following the PGA or LPGA Tour. Ah, for the old days huh, Sal?

Bob was a crusty old curmudgeon to some but he had a soft spot in his heart for spotters, considered by most to be the lowest form of human being to be allowed in a TV compound, just ask Johnny K. about those early years with ABC Sports, Sal on the radio, giving us all hell in his own inimitable style. Rossi and Judy Rankin in the fairways, Mark Lumis and Jack Graham in the production trailer (yes Sal, I was wrong that day when you asked me for the order, and I forgive you for the stream of F bombs that you laid on me).

I remember a tournament in the desert once where, as a veteran spotter,  I got the cush job of driving Rossi's golf cart. I soon discovered that man, you better hop to it or he would have your ass good. There were many horror stories of him dressing down a dipshit spotter that was chatting with the gallery instead of watching Rossi. But I made sure that I was like his shadow during the Nabisco Dinah Shore Tournament and as we rolled up to a fairway position that he liked he would then say, "Dickie boy, stay close and watch me."  I will always remember that day Rossi, God bless you, I think that it was the first day in history that Rossi bought a spotter a drink at the end of 72 holes.

He was a cynical guy, loathe to answer questions from the gallery and he would say what he thought, he would walk up to a ball in the rough and say, "no way is he getting this ball on the green" more times than not he would be right but there were some who knocked it stiff from impossible lies. He would say, "well, that's golf."
